Samsung has signed a deal with
Spotify to bring the streaming music service to Samsung's Smart TV range, Blu-ray players and home theatre systems later this year. It appears to be the first TV manufacturer to do so. It'll mean TV purchasers having instant on-demand access to a library of over 18 million tracks, so long as they are Spotify Premium users. New users will be able to test the service for an (unspecified) limited time period for free, and the service will be included for all existing Spotify Premium users with a compatible Samsung internet-connected Smart TV.

It was only a matter of time before Jetsetter, Gilt's luxury travel vertical, got into same day hotel deals for travelers on the go. Another startup has been primarily playing in this space—Hotel Tonight, which just raised $23 million and
is growing fast. Starting today, Jetsetter is debuting same-day, last-minute booking offers from Jetsetter-Verified hotels with the launch of "Jetsetter Now," an update to Jetsetter.com's iOS app.

At the Pepcom MobileFocus event at CTIA MobileCon, an unlikely underdog made a very big impression on me. It was the
Kupa UltraNote, and it was my first hands on with a tablet that ships with Windows 8 installed. The Kupa impressed, from its modular design that allows for ample customizability, to its pen-based, pressure-sensitive input system that makes drawing on the tablet a pleasure.

At TechCrunch Disrupt NYC in May 2010, a young startup named
Art.sy took home the "Rookie Disruptor Award" for its art-focused search engine, which allowed users to find art by style, category, size, color, and more. Art.sy also tapped into users' social graphs to offer personalized recommendations to make art discovery a little less overwhelming. The idea caught the attention of investors, and over the next year-and-a-half,
Art.sy raised $7.25 million in two rounds from the likes of Eric Schmidt, Jack Dorsey, Keith Rabois, David Tisch, Charlie Cheever, Dave Morin, Peter Thiel, Josh Kushner's Thrive Capital, Wendi Murdoch, and Dasha Zhukova.

LG has been getting plenty of attention these days because of some recent carrier announcements (case in point: Sprint announced it would carry the LG Mach and Optimus G), but that's not all the LG hardware here at MobileCON 2012. T-Mobile recently outed a new LG device of its own -- the decidedly mid-range Optimus L9 -- and I spent a few moments getting to know it a little better.

Zillow just announced the launch of Zillow Rentals, the company's new ad free marketplace for rental professionals and landlords. Zillow Rentals, the company says, will allow it to help serve rental professionals to better market and manage their listings.

T-Mobile recently announced it would be offering the Nokia Lumia 810 Windows Phone 8 device, sometime in the coming weeks, and it had the handset at the Pepcom's MobileFocus event at MobileCon today. But the hardware wasn't really the hardware as such – it was a dummy unit with nothing on the inside. But it still showed off some of what the phone will offer users.

Optimizely co-founder and CEO Dan Siroker shared some big numbers today about the A/B testing service's growth. Let's go with the biggest one first. Siroker says Optimizely, which makes it easy for websites to conduct tests to optimize their design and content, has now delivered those tests to 1,303,364,329 visitors around the Web. (He provided the number this afternoon, so those last few digits are probably too low now.) He also says Optimizely has run a total of 100,000 tests.

Slingbox is announcing two new products today: the Slingbox 500 and Slingbox 350. The devices have a lot of the same features as old Slingboxes -- but also have a few upgrades. For one thing, they can stream up to full 1080p HD video to all the same smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other connected devices supported by the older generation of Slingbox devices.

If you get the opportunity to hear
Clayton Christensen hold court, seize it. Speaking at BoxWorks in San Francisco today, Christensen was characteristically soft-spoken, self-deprecating and good-humored, even prompting
Ron Miller to describe him as "the Steven Wright of business research" and the anti-Aaron Levie.

Lenovo is apparently not convinced of the post-PC lingo, with its latest series of announcements. The good old ThinkPad brand is used once again for another model, the ThinkPad Twist. It is a 12.5" tablet/laptop hybrid powered by a third-generation Intel Core i7 processor.

Attending this year's
#BoxWorks conference has been extremely interesting for me, as I've gotten to talk to a group of people that I rarely interact with, enterprise folks. There's a nice mix of developers here, too, which makes it feel much more comfortable for those of us not working for a gigantic company. Well, I suppose I work for a gigantic company, but you know what I mean.

Facebook doesn't want to look like just another website, so it's testing colorful new versions of Facebook.com on a very small percentage of logged out visitors. One features a 3D polygon art map of the Facebook universe, while another showcases an adorable couple. So next time you login, or finally surrender and sign up, you might be greeted with something a lot more vibrant than text inputs.

Humans, like the bonobos monkey or the blesmol, are social animals and, as such, they enjoy occasionally gathering for festive activities, such as sexually variant group mating, tunnel debris removal, and Matmos concerts. Now these three species of fauna can plan their nights out with something called
Flavorpill GEL, a DIY event-planning service that allows you to create "playlists" of cool stuff to do in your town.

Sprint finally joined the phone announcement fray earlier this morning and added a handful of new devices to its official roster. While LG's Optimus G may garner all the love, the newly-revealed LG Mach deserves its share of attention, and I got a bit of hands-on time to do just that.

PublicStuff, the New York City based startup that makes a system to let citizens make real-time requests to their local governments for public services, has raised $5 million in new funding. The financing was disclosed today in

Sprint is going to be offering LG's new Optimus G this fall. The smartphone is LG's flagship Android device, and has the specs to own that role, with a Quad-Core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor and 4.7-inch1280 x 768 pixel display. Back in September, Chris went hands-on with the international version, and today at CTIA MobileCon we took the Sprint version for a spin.
