The tech giant has already supported the creation of an accelerator/workspace called Le Camping in Paris, part-backed with state money. In London it literally took out a ten year lease on a building, Google Campus London, and stacked it with co-working companies and accelerators. And now today in Berlin it's announced a new initiative with a vast new start-up centre/acelerator called the "Factory", which is backed with private money.

izettle nordic flags on readeriZettle -- often called the "Square of Europe" for being an early mover in its dongle-based mobile payment service for small merchants -- is definitely getting down to business now. Today, the Swedish-based startup announced that it has finally exited its beta phase across the rest of its Nordic footprint of Denmark, Finland and Norway, including a launch of its Android service, and it has come up with a workaround to accept Visa payments in those markets once again, after a hiccup over payment security saw Visa withdraw acceptance over iZettle's chip-based readers.


SeatID Launches Service To Book A Flight Based On Your Social Network

aerosvit closeup-2A new startup, SeatID, wants to change the way you fly. Their service lets you use your social network to help pick your next flight and seat assignment. SeatID is available starting today on the Ukrainian airline AeroSvit and the company plans to sign up major international airlines and online travel services soon. Whether passengers will want to share their flight and seat info is a big and controversial question. Eran Savir, CEO and co-founder of Israeli-based SeatID, says everyone has a bad flying story thanks to an awful seatmate. That experience is what inspired the founders to start the company.

The news is being characterized as a mutual decision, but industry observers know that these things never are. According to the release, Julie Larson-Green will be promoted to lead all of Windows software and hardware engineering, while Tami Reller will expand her current role to assume responsibility for the business of Windows. Reller also will retain her role as CFO and CMO, Microsoft says.

Two of the four speakers came up with the same answer — Apple. The company was barely mentioned in the preceding discussion, but Tom Bedecarré, chairman of digital agency AKQA (which was recently acquired by advertising conglomerate WPP) named Apple because of its "multiple platforms" for delivering media. Frank Speiser, co-founder and CEO of social ad company SocialFlow, echoed Bedecarré's point, then added that if someone like Facebook or Twitter "teams up with Apple" to improve discovery, they could become major players in the media landscape as well.

Wong was formerly a VP and Deputy General Counsel at Google. She spent over seven years with the company in the same role. Before Google, Wong was a partner at Perkins Coie LLP.

So to attract people who need quick answers, especially on the go, it is starting to show the online status of the experts it recommends you ask. It could keep that "live" feeling that Quora already offers, and pull quick decision questions about topics like shopping or cooking away from Facebook and Twitter. Quora has long given suggestions of who to direct your questions to based on the tags you add. Now when possible, its top suggestions will be experts who are "online now", meaning they have the site or app open. By asking these people who are actually available, you're a lot more likely to get a quick response.

The agency is asking Amazon to pay $252 million in non-reported tax and penalties. Most of Amazon's revenue in Europe goes to Luxembourg where the corporate tax is much lower. While it's legal, there are some subtleties in order to comply with the law.
