Sep 17, 5:00AM

swissarmy There’s no denying that app fatigue is posing a challenge not just for new app discovery, but for new behavior discovery. So why don’t the most popular apps just enable the latest, greatest use cases and create an “open loop,” networking their existing apps? Robots pave the way for our sci-fi future now

Sep 17, 3:00AM

This picture taken on January 22, 2014 shows a traffic robot cop on Triomphal boulevard of Kinshasa at the crossing of Asosa, Huileries and Patrice Lubumba streets. Two human-like robots were recently installed here to help tackle the hectic traffic usually experienced in the area. The prototypes are equipped with four cameras that allow them to record traffic flow, the information is then transmitted to a center where traffic infractions can be analyzed. The team behind the new robots are a group of Congolese engineers based at the Kinshasa Higher Institute of Applied Technique, known by its French acronym, ISTA. (Photo: Junior D. Kannah/AFP/Getty Images) As robotics begins to leave controlled environments and navigate the real world alongside humans, the question remains: How will this affect the way we interact, work and talk to not only robots, but one another? Sep 16, 11:00PM

City traffic at night Cheap and accessible capital has advantages: More founders get to pursue big dreams and previously “unfundable companies” not only raise huge amounts of money, but some achieve unicorn status. Discussions about the downside of this trend are usually about systemic risks, but few are discussing the problem as it relates to founders — but who is bearing this risk and what really… Read More
